Another common scam we see is from companies that take your money and ship you nothing at all. Now, this is not as common as it used to be since most online shoppers have gotten smarter…and used their credit cards instead of sending checks. Card companies do tend to protect you from outright trickery liked this. But still it does happen – there’s credit card fraud which is a hassle to resolve, COD frauds, and other ways they use to strip you of your cash.
Last but certainly not the least is nightmarish customer service practices. This is technically not a scam but it is something to be aware of. Some folks report that it takes days or even weeks to get a simple reply from companies through email. And it can take even longer to get what you paid for. There’s one big-name company that many of their customers report it taking 6-10 weeks to get their merchandise. To make it worse, while waiting they never or very rarely got an email from the company responding to their concerns. What’s the return policy?
